International projects
Throughout our 125 years long history we have built up a strong expertise in search and rescue work at sea. A knowledge that can pose significant difference in the everyday lives of people outside Norway.
Our international projects
Globally, about 400,000 people drown every year. We can not remain indifferent to this. With 125 years of history, we want to contribute our knowledge and expertise outside our borders. There is a great need for expertise in the areas of advanced life support, maritime search and rescue , and prevention. In addition, there is a need for expertise related to flooding and other natural disasters.
Redningsselskapet works to expand cooperation with sister organizations around the world, but also through organizations like the International Maritime Rescue Federation, IMRF.
Redningsselskapet have several partners and projects across borders today:
- The rescue vessel «Peter Henry von Koss» entered the Frontex operation Poseidon in Greece in the summer of 2015
- In 2015 Redningsselskapet started a collaboration with the sister organization Hellenic Rescue Team. The partnership involve courses and training of volunteers in Greece.
- Each year, eight volunteers from Redningsselskapet meet and exchange experiences with many of our sister organizations in Europe through IMRF Life Boat Crew Exchange Programme
- Partnership and competence sharing and with sister organisations.
